Mentoring


Mentoring One of the primary goals of an educator should be to help a student’s development, and ignite the desire and ability to think on their own. To aid this we are advising our senior students (BE/B.com 2nd and 3rd year) mentor their juniors and advise them in academics. Mentors keep track of the student and encourage the students perform well. Even such a simple intervention has proved to be very beneficial to the students. We are insisting that the senior students discuss following during the initial meeting.

  • Ice-breaking to help them to be comfortable with each other.
  • Get to know the student in detail e.g about their family, hobbies, friends etc.
  • Enquire about the student’s daily routine, time table, method of studying.
  • Give some tips about learning skills like SQRW (Survey, Question, Reading topic/para, more questions, Write Q&A) etc.
  • Check for any personal problem hampering his/ her studies and, followit up with the coordinator.
  • Give tips on good communication skills, Speaking and Writing.
  • Exchange phone numbers to keep in regular contact.

“PRERANA” has also initiated linking industry experts to their engineering students. These industry experts will meet their mentees at least once a month and provide guidance related to their academics, projects, industry expectations, placement guidance etc.

In this direction AOL India Ltd, under their CSR initiatives has collaborated with PRERANA and commenced the Mentor- Mentee Program. 8 students have been linked to 8 of their top executives who will undertake mentorship for their respective mentees.

PRERANA invites other industry professionals also to come forward and volunteer for Mentoring.
